Protecting God’s Children
Protecting God’s Children is a Diocesan program which enables parents, grandparents, teachers, etc to keep children safe more effectively. All employees must attend a Protecting God’s Children session with a background check completed before starting to work for a church or school in the Diocese of Springfield and St. Paul Parish.All volunteers that help or work for the church has to take this program and have a background check completed also. Yes, any parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, babysitters, etc must attend a Protecting God’s Children session before going a field trip or helping at a school activity. Yes, all volunteer catechist must do the same. Here at St. Paul we take keeping children safe very serious.
You can attend a Protecting God’s Children session in any parish that offers the program. You can find this info several ways. The Catholic Times publishes the dates, times and places sessions are being held. You can go to the diocesan web site, www.dio.org, to also get the dates.
